Hello, I am Katie and consider it a pleasure to meet you. Here is a little about me.
I was born in Fort Worth, Texas. I am the daughter of two fantastic parents and the sister of 3 crazy and supportive sisters. At the age of 8 we moved out to a then small town south of Fort Worth. Throughout my middle and high school years I fell in love with music. Excelling at my musical endeavors I struggled with where to go to college and what to major in. Combining my love of music and my passion for helping people I packed my bags and headed off to Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Tx.
In 2008, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. I practiced as a board-certified music therapist for 5 years before I realized something was missing. Doing some soul searching and counseling of my own I realized the missing piece was furthering my ability to help people.
I am currently working towards a dual master’s degree in Music Therapy & Counseling from Texas Woman’s University. My life’s passion is helping people, plain and simple. I continue to practice as a music therapist and am excited to add counseling to my therapy bag. I specialize in music therapy, GIM, animal assisted therapy in counseling, and the special needs population. I also work with depression, anxiety, play therapy, couples, adolescents, and the LGBTQQIAA community.
In my free time, I can be found spending time with my family, boyfriend, and loving on my fur babies. I have 4 awesome dogs, one of which has just completed his therapy dog certification and is working towards his grand champion title.
