We often want change to happen immediately. Especially because everything is accessible at the click of a button. At any given moment, we are capable of changing what we are doing, who we are with, how we socialize, what we eat, how we shop, all just to satisfy our immediate desires. More often than not, we want to change our immediate circumstance because it ultimately changes how we feel. The amount of online services aiding this process are unlimited. To name a few, online shopping, social media, and food deliveries can be accomplished from the comfort of our homes. And it’s easy. The convenience factor of those services is invaluable when the going gets tough. And, when the going gets tough, convenience can be key to temporary relief from difficult times, no matter the severity of the situation. However, the reprieve lasts for a matter of moments until we are greeted again with our unwelcomed feelings.
Feelings are important because the mere responsibility of existing on this Earth is hard—that is my life philosophy. Regardless of privilege, social status, or personal drive, the daily ins and outs of being a human-being is challenging. I emphasize this because therapy is often stigmatized or advertised as being a service for the mentally unwell. I, however, have a different perspective on the matter: I believe that therapy is for the mentally well and strong. It takes a great deal of strength to recognize that you want your life to be different. And it takes a great deal of courage to take the next step to change. Therefore, I commend you for just being here on our site— it’s honestly the hardest part! If you are not new to therapy, welcome back! Either way, we are happy you’re here. Since choosing a therapist is often the next difficult step, I want to share a little bit about myself to hopefully help you along your decision-making process.
To say the least, I grew up with my fair share of challenges that did not make my journey easy. Through the right guidance, timing, and support, I truly feel free from the perils of my past. Growing up with little income and the natural consequences of having young parents, my life was tough. I had low self-esteem, did not believe I would ever be talented at any one thing, or that I was smart enough to get the education I wanted. However, I am so grateful for my life experiences because it made me love who I am today. Not only did I pursue my dream of becoming a therapist, but I also discovered an abundance of talents such as art and photography. At the age of 25, I discovered that I’m highly skilled at portraits whether I draw, paint, or photograph people. In addition, I picked up several hobbies that include cooking, horticulture, trivia, and being a pet mom to a blue Pomeranian and a white Persian cat. None of that would have been possible without a little help from therapy, self-discovery, and the desire to change. Like you, I want to be the best possible version of myself. My best hopes from working with you is to meet you where you are, listen to your goals, and co-create a road map to get there.
